I’ve got a pretty substantial collection of sewing and fashion related books now (thanks to friends and family who bought me them for Christmas!) these should keep me going next year..!
This beautiful cornflower blue vintage print was a gift from my mum, we found it in The Cloth Shop on Berwick Street, Soho – the colour is just perfect.
Another beautiful William Morris cotton print. I made this pretty sun dress with a scoop neck, cap sleeves, a deep V-back and a full skirt. Finished with a ribbon tie at the waist; really summery and feminine.
The fashion distinct in New York has the best fabric. I picked up this gorgeous baby blue floral lightweight cotton when I was over there a few years ago. The colours are really muted and delicate. Beautiful!
William Morris famously said “have nothing in your home which you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful”. Sage advice. Using his classic floral design I made this pretty cotton tea dress with an ivory lace trim. Practical and a thing of beauty, Bill would be proud.
I bought this fabric a little while ago but wasn’t sure what to make with it, the ditsy floral print lends itself to something girlie and fun, so I decided on making this full skirt tea dress. Lots of gathering at the cinched in waist for a fitted bodice and a full A-line skirt.
