All the fun of the fair!

Had a brilliant time at the Etsy wedding fair this weekend! I’m pretty exhausted though, a 4 day event is quite full on when you’re 8 months pregnant! Definitely going to put my feet up for a couple of days.

It was so lovely meeting all the other Etsy sellers, such, such lovely people! Met some lovely bloggers & wedding press on the Thursday & Friday and then it was open to the public on Saturday & Sunday and it was heaving! 1100 visitors across the two days, amazing! It was a really fun atmosphere with music by the wedding smashers and cocktails by the travelling gin company (I had the elderflower one and it was yummy). My friends came to visit on the Saturday and we went to Harriet Parry flower crown workshop which was awesome, I’m now equipped to make a real flower hair garland – a life skill!

It was a great promotional event for This Modern Love as I’ve never been to a wedding fair before, and as well as chatting with lots of lovely customers I also made some great contacts and found out some really useful stuff about other events and trade shows. I also sold two wedding dresses to two lovely women who are getting married in the next few weeks – amazing! It was brilliant to hear such lovely feedback about my designs, and I’m so thrilled about how well my Sienna bridal gown went down – everyone loved this dress! 😀

Huge thanks to Etsy for inviting me and for hosting such a lovely event!

Embroidery love

My doctor’s surgery (the Brighton health & Wellbeing centre) is a lovely place – as well as supporting alternative therapies like meditation and singing classes they also showcase local artists’ work in the waiting room.

Their latest exhibition is a textile art installation showcasing these beautiful hand embroidery pieces. Here’s a few snaps of my favourite pieces by artist, Annika Malmqvist.

I love the beauty and delicacy of this work, as well as the vibrant colours – it must take hours & hours to create! I don’t know if I could be so patient, I love to whizz things up on the machine and can’t stand any project that takes longer than a day!

This Modern Love custom orders…

Here’s some snaps of the custom orders I’ve been working on lately. These are for four different customers and four different weddings but the colours all look so pretty together!

I’ve made a rose pink textured chiffon full circle dress with little sleeves, two dusky pink chiffon full length bridesmaid dresses with lace trim and a guipiere lace bodice bridal gown with a tulle skirt. Simple & elegant! Can’t wait to see pics from these gorgeous weddings 🙂

This Modern Love – Ready to Wear Collection

Had a great photoshoot this morning at the house of Modern Love with the gorgeous Charlotte from Model Mayhem – we got some beautiful shots!

This is my ‘ready to wear’ collection – these are one off, unique designs in soft neutral colours and beautiful laces.

We also shot my new design; ‘Helena – the bridal getting ready kimono’ – I love this! This design is made to order and it’s available in blush pink and Ivory – perfect lingerie to make you feel your most elegant while you’re being pampered for your special day… I’m definitely making one for myself!

This Modern Love at the Etsy Wedding Fair in London!

Weeeeee! I’ve been invited to the Etsy Wedding Fair this spring, how exciting!!

‘This Modern Love’ will have a little stand at this lovely event on 16th & 17th May where I’ll have a collection of my ready to wear bridesmaid dresses as well as samples of my made to order dresses.

I’ve also got 10 pairs of tickets to giveaway – so get in touch at if you’d like to come along and check it out!

I’m really looking forward to the floral crown workshop, can’t wait to go to this!
